James Brute is the band and alter-ego of James Steel, songwriter and frontman of 2000s East London darlings The Brute Chorus. Steel’s musical narratives of love, loss and lust have delved into ever darker and more mysterious regions since the release of debut single Bury Yourself in 2014. The warp and weft of the songs speak to the basest of our human instincts, pulling on themes and characters both ancient and modern; arcane and mundane.
