Indie Rock / Alternative Rock
Having cut his teeth in a number of London guitar bands throughout his twenties, Tunbridge Wells songwriter Tom Fleur decided to strike out on his own and go solo after a period of reflection during the first COVID lockdown. Armed with a harddrive full of demos and a desire to make the music he always wanted to make, he enrolled on a masters degree in Popular Music at Goldsmiths University, London. For the final project he wrote and recorded a body of bittersweet indie pop songs about love, mental health and masculinity; drawing musical inspiration from The Stone Roses to Aretha Franklin. Working with producer/ tutors Sean Woodlock (Alexis Taylor) and Mikko Gordon (Idles), he was encouraged to take risks and find his own style, and developed the confidence to self-produce the collection. Five of these tracks became “The Royal Park” EP, which was released in July 2024. The record was described by his tutors as “anthemic and touching in equal measure, with cinematic and heartfelt lyrics, sprinkled with a tinge of humour.” The EP has received support from BBC Introducing (Abbie McCarthy), BBC Radio London (Gary Crowley) and Amazing Radio (Frankie Francis).
